THE CHALLENGE

Flexi Storage wanted to expand its Cube insert range for Bunnings with fresh, contemporary designs that would appeal to current home and interior trends.

The opportunity was to introduce new pattern directions and colour palettes while keeping the designs suitable for a mass-retail product range.

WHAT I LED

Developed multiple pattern concepts across different themes, researched trend-forecast colours and contemporary styling, created pattern directions suitable for the cube insert format, developed variations across the range, considered how the designs would work within a Bunnings retail environment

OUTCOME

The project introduced a new collection of pattern directions for Flexi Storage Cube inserts, bringing more contemporary colour and styling into the existing Bunnings range.

EXPLORING DESIGN DIRECTION
& DEVELOPING PATTERNS

TRANSLATING TRENDS INTO RETAIL PRODUCT

I explored current colour and interior trends to develop pattern directions that felt contemporary while remaining accessible to a broad retail audience. The concepts were developed across multiple themes to create variety within the existing Flexi Storage Cube range.

CREATING A FLEXIBLE PATTERN SYSTEM

I developed multiple pattern concepts and variations designed specifically for the Cube insert format. The focus was on creating designs that could work individually while still feeling cohesive as part of the wider Flexi Storage range.

DESIGNING
FOR RETAIL

FROM CONCEPT TO BUNNINGS

The designs were developed with the realities of a high-volume retail environment in mind; balancing visual appeal, contemporary styling and the need to work across an existing product range.

This is worth including because Bunnings is a very recognisable commercial environment and it demonstrates that you understand design beyond just aesthetics.
